The UN Human Rights Council has convened an urgent debate in Geneva following Israeli airstrikes on Doha that killed and injured civilians. Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, Mariam al-Misnad, condemned the attack as a violation of sovereignty, international law, and human rights. She said targeting a mediator undermines negotiations and regional stability. The Arab League and OIC have joined in condemnation, calling it a threat to international peace. UN Human Rights Chief Volker Turk also denounced the attack. Behind closed doors, member states are discussing a joint statement and possible resolution. Experts warn that impunity for Israel, supported by key Western powers, risks fuelling further violence. There are growing calls for legal action and international solidarity with Qatar.
